A surprising
little stick here that is very lightweight but solid. This yidaki
has the distinction of having been chosen by Milkay Mununggurr for
use in his workshops at the recent Dreaming Festival in Australia
including, I am informed, his improv performances at the end! Painted with Guya (fish). A good chance to get a nice unassuming stick that plays well and has an interesting pedigree. |

| Description |
An incredible little Yirritja yidaki here made by Djarrayang Wunungmurra and painted entirely in ochre with Dhalwangu miny'tji (sacred designs). This instrument has an incredibly convoluted bore one can only describe as gnarly with quite a bit of constriction due to the narrow throat which increases the backpressure. A nice stick that really sings when it hits its groove. |

| Description |
A lovely yidaki made and painted by Milminyina Dhamarrandji. She has crafted a wonderful big boomy instrument which plays very much like those made by her brother, famed yidaki craftsman Djalu Gurruwiwi. This instrument is elaborately decorated in fine miny'tji (cross hatching designs) and clan bands. Deep sonorous voice and lovely response. There is one thin walled section in the neck which has required a repair, hence the lower price for an instrument of such quality. |

The bore is untouched and the perfect hollow has been discovered by Beyamarr resulting in a great and very affordable traditional instrument.

| Description |
Another wonderful yidaki by Napurrawuy crafted with only a machete. He has once again chosen a tree with excellent bore characteristics resulting in a classic yidaki with rich voice and great response to pressure accents. It is quite easy to produce the 'dith pop' characteristic of the regional playing style and the toot is easily accessed allowing quick rapid fire overtones. Painted entirely in ochre by Napurrawuy's mother Balatj Mununngurr with Dhalwangu miny'tji. |

| Description |
This is the type of yidaki that I find the most appealing. A wonderful instrument with an entirely natural bore, Napurrawuy has found a perfectly hollowed tree in this instance. The acoustics are flat and ideal for rough traditional style playing. The overtone is easy to hit and this yidaki has good backpressure and a drone easily punctuated with tongue inflections and quick rapid fire techniques. A wonderful instrument with rustic charm! |

| Description |
This is an incredible extreme yidaki from Datjirri. Very responsive with good backpressure due to the narrow throat which opens slightly into a 'cupped' mouthpiece. This beast of an instrument has an amazingly natural bore that has only been slightly opened up in the last 6 - 8 inches of the bell. Easy overtones allow for rapid changes between drone and toot and it's rich voice is a pleasure to witness. A great powerful stick by a respected yidaki craftsman! |

This is one of the finest yidaki I have come across. It has a beautifully crafted flared mouthpiece and is a pleasure to play, very balanced with a classic North East Arnhem Land voice and good backpressure. The overtones are easy to hit and enable the staccato like rhythms typical of the area. This yidaki is covered in Watjuku's sister Manany's artwork in ochre which depicts Wititj (olive python) and Dhamilingu (blue tongued lizard). A true collector's piece! |

This little yidaki really rips and it's not surprising that it was a favourite amongst the boys in Yirrkala. Very responsive and quick, this stick is great for the super fast rhythms punctuated with high calls and toots that the young Yolngu guys are known for. Better act quick as this one won't be around too long! |
